Greetings Race Fans !
Well the grids for Cadwell have been published and the PBIC will have the bulk of the track time by hosting a total of four separate races.
This will mean class wins will be known on race day, but the overall positions may take a little longer to work out.
This will be the cause of concern amongst many drivers as we are once again at the time of year when many are trying to work out how they are fairing taking into account dropped scores.
This is of no interest to me of course as I have been driving particularly poorly this year. I would like to echo the words of Jason Plato in the BTCC who said he has abandoned his bid for the championship and will just be going for race wins for the rest of the season.
In my case I will just be going for race finishes!
There has been a suspicious lack of activity since Mallory on the comments front. Suspicious because when this has happened before it normally means all the drivers are too busy tinkering and adding go-faster goodies and are unable to spend any time on their computers.
For my part I have been trawling the parts bin also known as my shed, and hitting the old Ebay specials in a bid to get my car ready for Cadwell, following the blow-up at Mallory.
In time honoured fashion it still isn’t running but we still have one week to go and I am hopeful that one way or another the trusty B will be ready in time!!
Of course I was not the only one to suffer the kiss of death at Mallory as a couple of other drivers also DNF’d.
It seems that Legs of Doom car 60 has managed to repair his shattered dreams, sorry I mean clutch, and will be eyeing up last place. He will find this relatively uncontested as Miss Daisy will not be there as she is spending more time with her family.
John Yea also seems to have resolved his ignition problems and is back in car 74.
A new arrival will ensure the later MG models are still represented in the form of a Maestro car 10 entered by Andrew and Henry Sharpe. In fact I am not sure if they have two Maestros both racing as car 10 or if they are sharing the same one.
I believe I have also spotted another new driver namely Sandra Clark in class B Car 48.
Any information about the new competitors true or false is always welcome!
All things being well I hope to be pitching the Jonesey-Racing tent on Friday afternoon, to allow me to soak up the atmosphere (and the leaking oil) with my fellow competitors.
Hopefully the Burchill BBQ will be in full swing, although I must admit I will miss the biker’s beer tent that was at Cadwell last year.
Enough waffle for now and back to the garage to continue repairs.
See you there!
Jonesey
PIT LANE GOSSIP
Alan Brooke car 44 is looking to move classes (again) at the end of the season and follow in Sandbag’s footsteps…footsteps in the sand you might say, with the purchase of one of those K series engines so I hear.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWatch out! Church Lane Racing now have team “T shirts”! Got to be worth a few 1/10ths! Please note that Peter Andrews is driving a Class B car, not a Class A car.
I presume they are yellow….I had wondered how Peter had got the 1950 into class A!
New arrivals:-
Sandra Clark is a direct descendant of the late great Jim Clark and has inherited much of his driving talent.
Andrew Sharp works with Dave Brown restoring vintage and classic cars. http://www.davidbrownrestorations.co.uk/meettheteam.php?s=5&np=2
Henry Sharpe previously raced his Maestro with the MG Owners Club.

Some of the above facts are true!
I’m Back! 8000 miles, many airline meals and the unfortunate pleasure of sitting next to Jonny Fartpants for 16 hours! Hope you get the B up n running in time mate, alas I won’t be out till Snett as school starts the next day, poor planning MGCC! Will Ollie risk a rent increase and give the old fella a run? I might get up to watch but won’t promise, see you all soon…jeeze it’s hot here!
Did you manage to smuggle any penguins in to the country? Hope to see you at Cadwell!
Ollie
If he did smuggle any penguins past customs they will be melting in the heat…..
See you all on Saturday should be good
Pete
You not about friday night Pete?
I should be starting new job on Tue next week, not sure what Friday brings so if feasible to get away will head up for some beers.
Need to sort out for snet relay….
Ah well, had a call from Valentino Rossi when I was on holiday, asking me if I would do him the honour of sporting his famous No.46 (on a car) in the PBIC double header at Cadwell….how could I refuse the man?
Rather than spend 2 quid on new numbers for my car, I had a quick look around the garage and blow me down if I didn’t spy a light blue class B “McCarthy” powered roadster gathering dust in a dark corner, unloved amongst all our beautiful V8s. Yes, you’ve guessed it, by complete coincidence, it has the No.46 on the side!
It occured to me that truth being stranger than fiction, plus you just couldn’t make this sort of stuff up, it must be in my destiny to pilot this machine in class B next time out….honest! So class B it is this time.
A word of warning, I’m used to the reassuring extra 1.5 litre engine capacity & bags of torque that my trusty “old girl” provides, so sitting behind 1950cc of souped up sewing machine could well be the lowlight of my illustrious racing career……don’t hold your breath, my scalp (whats left of it) should be easy to aquire.
Vic
P.S. My little brother is out in class C in my car…please go easy on the lad, not to mention my beloved “motaaa”!
Glad to see Vic is organised.
I’ve got to return to the driveway now and finish reassembling the car after changing the gearbox and even once it goes again I’m waiting on the postman to get the brakes fixed. Apparently boiling the fluid is not good for the caliper seals and currently the beast marks where its been with little puddles of brake fluid. Still there are a few evenings left before next weekend….
( it’s return to the driveway because the garage looks like the Steptoe’s yard with engines, gearboxes and other motorsport mechanical detritus. )
Good News for Long Haired Dave….apparently the EU Law concerning light-bulbs does not apply to cars so he can happily continue to drive with his headlamps on at every race…..
Weather looks a bit iffy…..
Hurrah!
Jonesey,
The EU directive does not affect the use of light-bulbs for ‘industrial’ purposes…..
Since the rain has paused its back the the brakes to see what I can break next………..
In true PBIC fashion I can confirm that my car is still not running & I intend to take it to the wire before cancelling my entry!!
I can also confirm that I have bought the entire stock of head gaskets allocated to Surrey & Hampshire…I just hope I have enough.
I’ve just read my previous post and seen that ‘Legs’ might be classifying it due to the quality of the english - 0.1 poster does not have a grammar checker.
Should have written ‘back to the brakes’ - can I blame it on a predictive text system?
Should also say that the rain stopped for less time than it took to remove a caliper even when using an angle grinder to ‘undo’ the fluid connector !! My jacket might be dry by tomorrow.
Had to read your post three times there Dave, first I thought you said something about a ‘gamma checker’ and wondered if you’d installed some kind of nuclear fuelled V8 power plant in the GT. Then I read it again and thought you said ‘grandma checker’ and wondered if you had changed professions and were caring for the elderly. Then I realised you already are caring for the elderly – as Chairman of the Peter Best divers committee!
I’m somewhat confused, a granny-checking chairman of the Peter Best DIVING Committee?
Legs - whats the reading on that…
It is a little known fact that Legs adopts a vow of silence 72 hours before a race to help with his concentration..
Diving - haa! I must have been having trouble with my R’s
I have no trouble with my R’s
Just reach back with both hands and there it is…..
Others may be needing to get their reading glasses checked!
Perhaps Jonesey’s pleas for rain were heard after all. Whose car will be fitted with a snorkel then?
is it going to rain???
According to this its going to be dry
Apologies for our absence but at least this will make it easier for the clerks and scrutineers. Also, congrats in advance to LHD for your brace of driver of the day awards.
