Pre - Race Report – Cadwell Park August 2008
The long summer break is nearly over and for the Peter Besters the race is on once more.
As we head off for the tricky Cadwell Circuit I am told we can expect a cloudy day with drizzle to light showers likely around race time…should be fun!
We have a healthy grid of around 26 cars with a couple of newcomers (new to me at any rate) entered in car 34 class B in their MGB Roadster. Interestingly this runs in 1950cc form when driven by Roland Gray and 1900cc when driven by Phillip Simpson…Kwik fit eat your heart out.
In Class C it’s thumbs up for the return of Simon Hutchinson in car 43 or the regenmeister as he now wishes to be known.
The official web site has been suffering a few problems lately with the total loss of service for a few days this week. Apparently it was nothing to do with the long-awaited posting of the Silverstone Race Report; in fact I have it on good authority that hackers are to blame.
A source who wishes to remain anonymous has suggested that a certain driver was very disgruntled to find his championship winning photo (am I giving too much away here?) had been unceremoniously removed from the official site homepage and replaced by an archive shot of car 11.
Strangely car 11 is driven by the webmaster…how spooky is that? I have checked the website today and sure enough the photo of car 11 has mysteriously vanished…how bizarre!***(since I wrote this I have noticed the site has been un-hacked & the photo of car 11 is back!!)***
A new feature for this month’s update is the addition of a game for all the family…namely Cluedo.
A crime has been committed in the Peter Best Challenge and it’s up to you to solve it…so in time honoured Cluedo fashion, here are your clues.
1. Location: committed in the spray booth.
2. Weapon: a loaded (with paint) gun
3. Suspect: Colonel Mustard
That’s your lot folks, all will be revealed at Cadwell!!
Will sign off now but just time to remind you to meet around the boot of car 13 on Saturday evening for a cool alcohol free lager!
Cheers!
Jonesey

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackbackwhilst pleading the 5th, I would suggest that the additional lead piping on the front bumper should be of more concern than the contents of the gun
Hmm, looks like we have an early response to the game… I understand the lead pipe counts as ballast & is totally within the rules…
Given enough rope he will hang himself ( in the library of course)
Quite true! Good to hear from a long lost fellow racer again!!
