Pre - Race Report – Mallory Park April 2008
The weather forecast for Mallory is 96% cloud cover, rain of 3.mm (which is more than my tyre tread) and 10mph winds.
James Darby ever ready to battle the elements has advised he will not be wearing his trademark Cossack hat for this meeting, but will favour the ever popular plastic rain hat instead.
Mystery still surrounds the start – line breakdown of James Walpole’s car. James, or Jay Dubyah, as he prefers to be known, remained tight lipped regarding the incident, although rumours are circulating that the cause may have been either mechanical or electrical. Not much gets past me, except on the track of course.
Class A is fielding a strong grid including the return of Paul Eales making a guest appearance.
Alan (I’m not that fast) Brooke will be looking to capitalise on his class win in race one, but according to the Official PBIC Newsletter he will be lucky to repeat this….hmm we shall have to wait and see.
Sadly it seems the Montego expertly piloted by Dan Ludlow will not be making an appearance at Mallory, as it is needed for the”Sunday Big Shop” instead.
***Stop Press*** I have been informed that the Sunday Big Shop has been cancelled and the Montego is set to make an appearance after all…unfortunately Mr Ludlow will not be behind the wheel on this occasion…so expect a driving Miss Daisy Special instead!!
Dave Brown (car27) will be looking to avoid the black flag this time round and put in a solid performance. He has decided to replace his 7 year old set of tyres with an even older set following his theory that “the older they are the better they are”. Thanks for that Dave.
Rumours are circulating that one of the modified cars will feature a new NASCAR type suspension set up, especially designed to deal with Gerards Bend. I am grateful for the scoop but I will respect the request for anonymity as promised.
With the first race gremlins out of the way the season proper starts now.
Tally ho!
