Snetterton 6 & 7 October 2007.Sunday – Race Two

Woke at 6am to find the tent still standing and James Walpole (car 15) already working on his car wearing his race suit…he’s far too keen that guy!

I was pleased to see representatives of both Motorlawyers.co.uk & Danitech turned up for race 2. Sadly I was not able to do as well as in race 1.

Took up my place on the grid at race time, lights went off, dropped the clutch and spluttered slowly forward, the old bogging down fever had struck once again.

Saw the pack racing off and really just never caught up with them after that.

Car 18 this time driven by the lightweight Simon Tinkler zoomed past me down the back straight having started at the back of the grid…oh dear!

The rest of the race was spent dicing with a new driver to the series, Sam Polley (car 54) who had only bought the car three days earlier at a knock down price I hear.

His straight line speed was too much for me in the end and despite a little bit of grass-tracking from me (see the Live Action pages) he passed me on the last lap.

As we returned to the scrutineering area once again I saw the swirling mist that had descended upon us the day before, only this time it was coming from (car 2) John Bussey’s radiator!

No sacrifices were made to the scrutineer this time and I ended up 4th in class.

Well it’s all over for this year and congratulations go to James Walpole (car 15) who with two wins in class over the weekend, clinched the Championship Title having been runner up for the last two years (so I am told).

Well done James…I hope the time honoured tradition of buying the drinks will continue at the Xmas Do!! (Guinness for me please)

So it’s back to the garage for the car in preparation for next years races.

I will update the website if any new pictures become available and also with details of the 2008 schedule.
