Following my good fortune at a rain soaked Silverstone where I managed to grab 3rd in class & fastest lap (hurrah), it was a totally different story at a dry Cadwell Park.A new feature to this web page will be the “Excuses” which will be liberally sprinkled through the race reports, see if you can spot them!Qualifying produced some odd official lap times with pole being taken by a car apparently completing a full lap in just 28 seconds….These were eventually updated but I was dismayed to find myself some way down the grid in 15th place. It later transpired that a faulty transponder had resulted in only four of my laps being recorded (Excuse 1). Naturally my pole setting lap was only recorded in my mind & not accepted by the timekeepers despite me legging it across the track in between sessions to discuss this with them!Race 1, Started 15th (damn transponder) had a good tussle with John Bussey in his TC, went grass-tracking at the Goose-neck and smashed a wing mirror on the Mountain corner markers, finished up 12th. Race 2 Positioned myself in 12th place on the grid only to be told that it was not where we finished in race 1 that determined the grid but the second fastest lap in qualifying. Great!! back to 17th this time!! The pack moved off together and 3 abreast round turn one found me pushed into last place. I am far too well mannered to push people off, must try harder. Managed to keep the car mainly on the track this time round and knock a second off my first race times. Even though (Excuse 2) the car was pinking badly down the straights. John Wreghitt managed to make his Roadster exceptionally wide but I finally managed to squeeze past on the last corner of the final lap finishing 12th. Work on the trophy cabinet has been suspended indefinitely.
